Am I Ready to be a Parent?

You likely have a thousand questions running through your mind in regard to parenting, and that’s okay! Asking yourself questions is completely normal and is encouraged when making a big decision like this.

Here are some things you should ask yourself before choosing to become a parent:

  • “Do I have the proper support system to care for and raise a child?”
  • “Do I have the financial means to care for a child?”
  • “If not, what organizations can help me provide for my child?”
  • “If the father refuses to be in the picture, can I raise this baby alone?”
  • “Have I considered all my options?
  • “What do I need to do as a parent to properly and lovingly raise a child?”
  • “How will being a parent affect my time?”

You will likely have so many other questions when it comes to parenting, but just know that you are not alone. Every expectant parent, even if they planned on becoming pregnant, has doubts, questions, and concerns about parenting – but that doesn’t mean that they won’t be a great parent!

The most important part of parenting is learning and having a support system to help you learn and grow along with your baby. If you are willing to learn and have family and friends to support you, then you will be set up for success.
